CoAdna intros 25-GHz Flex Band WSS
CoAdna Photonics Inc. has introduced a liquid crystal-based 25-GHz Flex Band wavelength-selective switch (WSS) for ROADM applications. The new 25-GHz Flex Band WSS will be demonstrated at CoAdna’s OFC/NFOEC 2011 Booth #1310 March 8-10, 2011.CoAdna’s 25-GHz Flex Band WSS leverages the company’s proprietary LightFlow platform to offer what the company termed excellent performance with integrated functionalities of hitless wavelength selection and programmable bandwidth in one compact package. The WSS also provides remote configurability via embedded firmware and software, scalability, and low power consumption. The product features low insertion loss, flat and wide passband, and high extinction ratio for long haul, metro, and access applications, CoAdna says.“CoAdna’s 25-GHz Flex Band adds a new product family to our product offerings of WB, WSS, and WXC by leveraging our matured technology and production experience with the LightFlow platform,” said Dr. Jack Kelly, CTO of CoAdna Photonics.

L-com introduces LSZH bulk cable
L-com Inc., a manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, announced bulk USB 2.0 cable with a Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) jacket. The new product is identical to L-com’s standard PVC USB Bulk Cable, except that the jacket is black and, when burned, the LSZH jacket will not produce toxic smoke.The USB Bulk Cable can be used with L-com’s Type A and Type B USB connectors and hoods to manufacture custom USB cables if desired. L-com can also manufacture custom USB cables using this bulk cable with modest minimum order quantities.“All LSZH products significantly reduce the amount of toxic gases emitted during combustion when compared to PVC,” says Steve Smith, product manager. “This is the same cable that is used in our popular CSUZAB and CSUZAA cable assemblies.”LSZH hoods for the connectors will be available in roughly six weeks. L-com offers systems for the electronics and data communications industries.

Tejas Networks taps Metaswitch for MPLS-TP, OTN, integrated control plane software
Tejas Networks has selected Metaswitch's MPLS, GMPLS, and IP routing control plane software for use on its packet optical and Carrier Ethernet product families, Metaswitch says. The deal will enable Tejas to deploy unified, fully integrated routing and signaling across a wide range of Tejas products, the company adds.Metaswitch's control plane software includes support for OTN and MPLS-TP, which Tejas will use to help enable service providers to transition from TDM to all-packet networks with minimal network disruption. The Metaswitch products are optimized to support both transport technologies (SONET/SDH, packet optical, OTN, MPLS-TP) and services (IP, Carrier Ethernet, VPNs) in that the control plane capabilities are delivered via a common set of portable GMPLS, MPLS, and IP routing products."Tejas has pioneered in providing innovative end-to-end optical transport solutions with a strong management plane. Now, we are looking to further enhance our offerings with a strong control plane which minimizes our customers' capex and opex, and Metaswitch certainly helps us in that goal," said Sarath Kumar, vice president of engineering at Tejas Networks.
