Zayo raises funds for 360networks acquisition
Zayo Group says it has raised $315 million in the form of a five-year term loan. The funds will be used to complete the recently announced $345 million acquisition of 360networks (see "Zayo expands again with 360Networks acquisition"). The remaining $30 million on the purchase price as well as transaction expenses will come from cash on hand, Zayo says.The loan was marketed by RBC Capital Markets, Barclays Capital and SunTrust and allocated to 25 institutional investors. Zayo says its pro-forma combined indebtedness as of September 30, 2011 is approximately $710.5 million, versus an estimated pro forma adjusted EBITDA of $197.0 million, for leverage of 3.6X, according to a filing the company made with the SEC on November 15, 2011.

BT selects JDSU to provide HST-3000 broadband access testers for FTTx
JANUARY 20, 2010 -- JDSU (Nasdaq: JDSU; and TSX: JDU) says that Openreach, the local access network division of BT Group, has selected JDSU's HST-3000 handheld broadband access tester for its FTTx roll out.JDSU says it was selected by Openreach as one of its tester suppliers for its ability to support broadband network performance, reduce truck rolls, and ensure customer service-level agreements are met.BT Group plans to deliver advanced broadband services at speeds of 40 Mbps to 10 million premises in the U.K. by 2012 (see "BT to expand footprint for UK's fastest broadband"). Openreach owns and manages the local access network that connects homes and businesses across the UK and provides network services to communications providers.The JDSU HST-3000 is designed to support the cost-effective installation and maintenance of such services. Deployed by service providers worldwide for the installation and maintenance testing of next-generation FTTx technologies and services, the JDSU HST-3000 tests the physical layer, verifies services, and improves network operations processes, the company asserts.

AFS completes fiber optic network expansion into Carson City, Nev.
FEBRUARY 1, 2010 American Fiber Systems Inc. (AFS) in Rochester, N.Y., has completed its fiber optic network expansion into Carson City, Nev., which extends the AFS network to major State of Nevada facilities as well as Carson City business locations.The new AFS metro fiber network offers managed services including Ethernet networking speeds from 10 megabits per second to 10 gigabits per second, as well as Internet bandwidth for businesses. The AFS Carson City network, composed of 5,600 fiber miles, links Carson City to AFS's metro network in Reno, Nev.The company's Reno facilities also link Carson City to the AFS long-haul intercity fiber network that connects Las Vegas; Reno; Boise, Id.; and Salt Lake City.
