AiNET Launches Innovative Cloud-Based, Trusted Storage as a Service Offering
Beltsville, MD, November 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- AiNET[R], a leader in design, construction, operations, and technology solutions for Internet data centers and fiber optic networks supporting critical applications, today announced the launch of a new Cloud-based, Trusted Storage as a Service offering that will support real-time applications using increasingly-popular virtualized environments such as VMware[R],Hyper-V[R], Citrix[R] and Xen[R]. The Service was developed as a result of increasing demand for high-performance, real-time storage solutions and is currently available in the Washington, DC area market. As a high-performance foundation is critical in a shared infrastructure setting, AiNET Trusted Storage as a Service leverages the AiNETPeta10 storage area network (SAN). Among other techniques, the Peta10 employs a solid state drive (SSD) front end and collaborative load processing to provide the requisite high levels of performance. Userscan interface with the SANs at multi-gigabit/s levels using common storage methods including iSCSI, NFS and GPFS[R].“Performance is part of the picture, but reliability is every bit as important,” said Deepak Jain, President of AiNET. “Therefore, beyond configuring the Peta10s for RAID 6, we have themperform synchronous SAN replication, a far-reaching reliability measure we haven't seen in a shared service environment.” SANs operating synchronously provide immediate data duplication for the highest level of reliability and data integrity. To ensure data security, AiNET Trusted Storage as a Service operates using the same highly-secure, Government Information Assurance protocols used to protect extremely sensitive data.AiNET Trusted Storage as a Service is being introduced with promotional pricing, including 512 GB of free storage per new cabinet for customers in one of AiNET's data centers, including its certified SAS 70 Type II, TIA-942 Tier IV facility in the Washington, DC market. The Service is also reachable from points of presence on AiNET's expanding, regional DWDM fiber optic network including 300 West Lexington in Baltimore and CoreSite's (NYSE: COR) 1275 K Street data center in downtown Washington. Additionally, CoreSite customers at 12100 SunriseValley Drive in Reston can access the Service via CoreSite's inter-site DWDM connectivity products.“CoreSite is pleased to see the continued growth of our cloud-centric data center ecosystem in Washington DC/NoVA,” commented Chris Bair, CoreSite senior vice president of sales. “Customers like AiNET are key to keeping CoreSite data center ecosystems vital to network-sensitive organizations.”Last month AiNET announced the start of construction of a major fiber network throughout Washington, DC, and any buildings reached by this network will have easy access to the Service. Plans are underway to launch Trusted Storage as a Service in other markets in 2012.

UNITED STATES : Huawei and Corning Demonstrate 3,000 km Ultra Long Haul 100G Transmission at SCTE
Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, and Corning Incorporated today jointly demonstrated 3,000 km Ultra Long-Haul (ULH) transmission of 100G coherent Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology at the Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. At the event, Huawei is demonstrating the latest 100 Gbps single wavelength coherent technology over Corning SMF-28 ULL optical fiber. This Optical Interoperability Forum (OIF) standards compliant 100 Gbps technology utilizes innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms and next generation Forward Error Correction (FEC) enabling high capacity transport over ULH distances. In addition, Huawei is also demonstrating co-transmission with its 40 Gbps coherent solutions at 50 GHz channel spacing. This demonstration utilizes Corning SMF-28 ULL optical fiber, an ultra-low-loss ITU-T G.652-compliant optical fiber that has ultra-low attenuation (average attenuation at 1550 nm is 0.168 dB/km) and low Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), empowering next-generation transmission systems to achieve longer spans, reach, and scale to higher speeds. Using the combined benefits of Huawei's 100 Gbps technology and Corning's SMF-28 ULL fiber, customers can enhance their network reach by 35-40 percent. Huawei's 100 Gbps and 40 Gbps coherent technology is available on the OptiX OSN 8800 which is a next generation, intelligent, Optical Transport Network (OTN) platform scalable to over 6 Tbps of switching capacity. "As video content and business services drive bandwidth requirements for cable operators, Huawei has developed industry leading 100 Gbps technology to minimizing their total cost of ownership, energy consumption, and telecommunications footprint," said Reg Wilcox, Vice President of Network Marketing for Huawei Technologies USA. "The OSN 8800 has the ability to smoothly scale to 100 Gbps and support hybrid transmission of 100 Gbps, 40 Gbps, and 10 Gbps signals. This 100 Gbps solution also interworks with Huawei's NE40E and NE5000E routing platforms which provide native 100 Gbps interfaces directly from the router to enable fully end-to-end 100 Gbps solutions across routing and optical transport layers." "Corning is excited to team up with Huawei to demonstrate the commercially available 100G WDM solution," said Barry Linchuck, Division Vice President and Director, Worldwide Marketing, Optical Fiber. "We will continue our development of long-haul optical fiber products to make them capable for the continuous advancement of customer bandwidth demands. The ultra low-loss optical fibers provided by Corning help operators extend the reach of optical networks without compromising the data rate, allowing considerable savings to be made in the provisioning of amplification in the backbone of the network."

Internexa to launch CDN in Q1, CEO says
Colombian backbone network operator Internexa expects to open a content delivery network (CDN) in Brazil during the first quarter of 2012, CEO Genaro García told BNamericas.García said the new center will provide services not only to the Brazilian market but also to the Southern Cone countries.Internexa plans to develop its CDN using existing data center facilities in Brazil. "There are several data centers in Brazil with available room for us to develop our CDN," the executive said. "Many international content players will use this content center to offer their services to these markets."Internexa already operates a content delivery center in Colombia, where there are two content providers who have installed servers "and there are three more who will install their servers in the coming months," he added. In Colombia, the firm owns and operates a fiber optic network of more than 6,600km linking the country's main cities. In Ecuador, Internexa has a 927km fiber optic network, through its stake in local company Transnexa. In Peru, the firm operates a 2,600km fiber optic network. In Venezuela, Internexa's network infrastructure reaches 1,977km and is operated via an agreement with state-owned telco Cantv. Lastly, in Chile the company's network reaches 1,181km.Meanwhile, Internexa's network infrastructure in Brazil and Argentina will be commercially launched next year after the company completes technical adjustments.Internexa is the connectivity infrastructure unit of Colombian energy and telecoms group ISA.
