Avago introduced high-speed data center with 40G BiDi MMF QSFP + optical modules
For wired, wireless, storage, and industrial applications of analog interface components supplier Avago Tech today the launch of its high-speed data center applications for 40G multimode fiber Bidirectional QSFP+ optical modules AFBR-79EBPZ. 2X20G BiDi based on innovative optical technology, the module supports 40G transmission multimode fiber optic LC duplex connector on the existing 10G with an ideal solution for existing data center line 10G to 40G upgrade. AFBR-79EBPZ module supports 100 meters of OM3 fiber optic transmission and 150 meters of OM4 fiber optic transmission.
AFBR-79EBPZ main features include:
* Field validation of single-fiber bidirectional 40G module solution
* Use existing 10G networks to 40G upgrade of cost-effective solutions
* Based on dual-fiber LC connector program, instead of the traditional QSFP+ 8 fiber program
* Compatible 40GbE IEEE 802.3ba-2010 XLPPI electrical interface specification
* Compatible QSFP+ SFF-8436 specification
Avago senior vice president and general manager of optical fiber business unit represented Philip Gadd, Avago is the industry leader in high-speed optical interconnect solutions, with diverse data center cost-effective transport solutions until 40Gbps. The new 40G BiDi optical module technology facilitate the users to upgrade from 10G to 40G is a major technological breakthrough, the data center will certainly accelerate the deployment of 40G modules.
Market research firm Dell'Oro Ethernet switch research VP Alan Weckel also pointed out, 40G Ethernet is a key technology of the data center. Many users of aggregation / backbone is being upgraded to a higher rate. Alongside this upgrade, they expect 40G Ethernet switch port sales will more than 10 million in 2017, four times in 2014.
