QSFP+ AOC will be released
10GTEK will release 40-Gbps QSFP+ active optical cable (AOC) components, which it asserts is a first for a company based in China. Such AOCs are used in supercomputer and SDR, DDR, and QDR InfiniBand applications.10GTEK will release QSFP+ AOC around this April in 2012.
The 40Gbase QSFP+ Active Optical Cable (AOCs) offers a pair of QSFP+ optical transceivers connected with ribbon OM3/OM2 multimode fiber cable. There are 4 pire of parallel optical 850nm VCSELs and PIN receivers array inside.
QSFP+ AOCs extremely low power consumption of only 0.78W per cable end improves overall data center power consumption and thermal efficiency. AOCs reduced cable bulk compared to larger diameter copper cabling enable deployment of additional ports for increased number of AOCs per system, resulting in more connectivity options and total system cost savings. Four bi-directional optical data links per end each operate at data rates from 1.0 to 10.325 Gbps and are compatible with multiple protocols including InfiniBand* single data rates (SDR), dual data rates (DDR) and quad data rates (QDR), Ethernet systems (10 and 40 Gbps), Fibre Channel (8 and 10 Gbps), SAS (6 Gbps).
The AOCs can be expanded for greater transmission capacity, including CXP (120Gbps), and MiniSAS(HD).
